Ball of Stress

An abstract body extension.

Stress plays a constant role in my life. With this piece, I wanted to visually convey my personal stress to the outside world.

When experiencing stress, the body tenses up and blood pressure rises. I chose to uses this as the visual base for my piece. I created blood cells, varying in size, that wrap around the body in two locations: around the neck and around the waist. The shape of the piece when removed is an "Infinity" symbol, to represent my infinite feeling of stress.

This piece is reversible. The opposite side, symbolizes the escape from stress, and the eventual blossoming of new reasons for stress.

It is created from Red Jersey Knit Fabric and stuffed with quilters stuffing. The blood cells function as stress balls, to calm the wearer down as it engulfs the body.
